Finally, South Africa have put England out of their (and our) misery in the World Cup (cricket, that is). I was getting a bit tired of the unrealistically optimistic things that the English kept spouting to the press ... "oh yes, we just need to turn around and win the next 5 matches in a row ... and we'll have won the World Cup !" They kept referring to the turn-around they managed in a meaningless series in Australia earlier in the year, but simply don't seem to have realised - Australia just weren't trying that hard back then. Now they are, and fortunately, so were South Africa. They completely thrashed England this time - England all out for 154; South Africa made the target in less than 20 overs - and hopefully that'll keep the English players a little quieter for a while (... who am I kidding, now we get the endless explanations of what went wrong, how they can do better next time and how it wasn't all that bad really. Bah).
